For the first time ever, the B team was beating the A team! Kyle forgot all about his soccer showreel, and remembered how much he wanted to win the match.
"The Case of the Soccer Saga" is the second episode of the second season of The InBESTigators, and the 22nd episode overall.
Kyle asks Maudie and Ava to make a video of his soccer match but Maudie discovers something about the game is not quite right.
Ezra starts yet another case report from the Inbestigators, whose case happened when Kyle asked Ezra, Maudie and Ava to shoot a video of him on Monday, which was going to have his last football match before the finals, however, the first could not go through he tells of traveling with his uncle Keith and aunt June to celebrate their wedding anniversary. So Maudie and Ava went there, but when Maudie was getting her tripod ready to film, Kyle actually wanted her to film it, which made her confused, because everyone thought the video was for him to get ready for. finals, but Kyle said it's a video of himself for the best football teams to recruit him. He explains that his team, Team A, which is one of the best players in the football club for minors, is already automatically in the finals, however, they will play against a very easy team, Team B, whose players are not very good, which serves as a chance for Team B to reach the finals, and they will have to work hard to beat them, and even more since Owen, the star of Kyle's team, twisted his arm on the way and cannot play.
Team A's coach calls Kyle to note the players' positions on the whiteboard, however, as Maudie was recording a video of Kyle in the match, he asks Owen to do this, and Maudie is surprised to see that he, when writing the frame, he's actually left-handed, and that's one of the main reasons he's very good at football. Kyle asks Maudie to record some scenes of his warm-up and then asks for Ava, who just came to set up a cupcake and orange tent to raise money for the club, but Kyle can't seem to get angry after she promises to save him a cupcake . While filming Kyle's warm-up scenes, Maudie bumps into a boy she thinks is Owen, but Kyle explains that it's actually Evan, Owen's twin brother, who unlike him, Evan's not good at football, and that insults him.
After Kyle apologizes to Evan, Owen tells Kyle that Evan has improved a lot, but Kyle couldn't find a way to talk to Evan about it without insulting him, but the coach interrupts, who calls everyone to see the positions of the first time, but finds it difficult to understand what Owen had written. The game starts, and Maudie goes to the crowd to film Kyle's movements, but she is very distracted by Owen because he is a twin, and because of that, she can't focus on filming. Owen interrupts, as he is trying to watch the match, and Maudie ends up filming Team B's goal, much to Kyle's irritation, with Evan making the goal, which proves Owen's claim about him getting better.
The match, with the teams tied, gets more and more interesting: several failed attempts at goal by Team A and Team B, and another goal for Team B, which left everyone surprised, since they never became Team B being in front of Team A. Kyle decided to focus more on taking his team to the finals instead of just focusing on the video. During another shot, Kyle catches the ball right away, but ends up being knocked down by Evan, who takes the ball, but the fact that Evan has improved not only surprised Kyle, but also excited about the game, considering it fun . During one more shot, Kyle catches the ball and, as soon as Ava arrives, he manages to score another goal for Team A, which makes Maudie and Ava happy, except Owen, who is frustrated that he is also rooting for his brother twin. Ava, when seeing the situation, is sad and offers Owen a cupcake, which she eats, just to Maudie's shock, since Owen is allergic to eggs, as mentioned by Kyle.
The first half ends, and Ava talks about what it would be like if she had a twin, but Maudie pays no attention, as she was re-watching Team B's first goal she accidentally shot and, upon realizing something, concluded that they should go and talk to Kyle. She goes to the field to talk to Kyle, who was together with the rest of Team A to check the positions of the second half. Maudie tells Kyle that she thinks Owen is Evan and Evan is Owen, but he doesn't believe the story, but before Maudie can explain, the coach, angry, sends her and Ava off the field. Before that, Maudie takes the coach's marker and asks Evan to sign Ava's shirt and she takes a picture, and Kyle thinks it's ridiculous, since he thought he was going to write the name "Owen", but actually, Her plan was to get him to write with his left hand, and that worked, which proves that Evan is actually Owen, much to the coach's confusion.
This means that the other Owen is actually Evan, who pretended to have sprained his arm. Kyle is angry to see that Owen was making his own team lose, saying that it is unfair, but Owen explains that what really is unfair is because Evan is always evaluated against Owen himself, and that is why Kyle kept talking about him instead of the other members of Team B. Kyle apologizes to Evan, while Maudie explains how she found out. One of the proofs of this was because Evan, disguised as Owen, accidentally ended up eating Ava's cupcake, which are made from eggs, the main allergic source of the real Owen. Also, when he saw Evan's goal that she accidentally filmed, she saw that he scored with his left foot, and furthermore, another proof was the writing on the whiteboard that was horrible, since Evan was right-handed and needed to pretend to be left-handed, something characteristic of Owen.
Kyle is confused and the coaches are angry about the situation, and they ban Evan and Owen from the second half, and because of that, Team B lost the match. Ezra reveals that, during the story, he was editing Kyle's video and, showing how it turned out, concluded that they need to film another match, and the episode ends.
