Don't call me Henry.

—Mr. McGillick's recurring quote.

Mr. Henry McGillick is a recurring character on The InBESTigators. He is portrayed by James Saunders, and is the principal of Middle Primary School.

As an overworked principal of a busy primary school, Mr McGillick believes in running a tight ship. He loves a neatly written whiteboard, an adhered-to asthma plan and a well co-ordinated fire drill.

—"Who is Mr McGillick"

Mr McGillick is a very strict, fair man and always wants to keep things in order at school, and is always busy with something, full of commitments. In addition, he is generally irritated by Ezra, because he calls him Henry and asks more than a thousand times to let him redo the school website, but Mr McGillick always refuses them. So, he also thought that, due to Ezra's technological interest, he had stolen Ava's can in order to buy the website software for $75. However, a big difference is that he does not show this behavior like Ezra when a teacher calls him by his real name "Henry". Because of this, he regards Ezra as an irritating boy, and was determined to find some special project that would suit him more: which is taking care of the new student, since, according to Ezra, he knew they would get along, for on account of Maudie's cleverness, and because of that, he founded the inbestigators' investigation agency.

While working, Mr McGillick has strange habits with his "World's Best Principal" mug, according to Maudie, how to put a folder on top of it to prevent the coffee from cooling, and also, he considers it special because he is one of his most remarkable moments of his educational career, and losing it, as seen in "The Case of the Misplaced Mug", left him shaken and upset, and Ezra saw that, thus, nobody would recognize him as "World's Best Principal". However, even with Ezra helping him, he still doesn't accept that he calls me "Henry". In several cases, Henry has shown himself to be a very loyal director to his students, always determined to have tests or even defend people he has never seen do anything wrong in life, as seen in "The Case of the Copy Cat", in which he defended Ava, who was being accused of stealing the speech of a girl named Savannah Gonzalez. He demonstrates this once again in "The Case of the Burgled Bags", where he considered Sadie's accusation to Gary very unfair, and that he would need more evidence besides him being the only person who was at the scene, but who in fact, I hadn't committed it.

Mr McGillick has dark brown hair with white skin and black-framed glasses.

During his work at school, Mr McGillick wears a brown jacket over a white blouse with a red tie, and appears to wear black pants and brown shoes (the latter seen in "The Case of the Very Lost Notebook"). In a flashback to "The Case of the Misplaced Mug", he wore a blue jacket instead of a brown one.

During Grade 5 Camp, he wore a dark blue long-sleeved shirt with brown pants and boots.

Mr McGillick started his educational career as a teacher, and during the end of his school year, he was awarded by his students during a party with a mug saying "World's Best Principal", which name was due to the mug store having "Best Teacher" sold out.

From there, Mr McGillick was inspired to become a principal, and at some point, he became the principal of Middle Primary School, and kept his mug as a great reminder of his career as a teacher, and soon became acquainted with Miss Tan, Mrs Parides and lastly, Mr Barker, who always calls him to play squash every night. Mr McGillick also started being pampered by one of his students, Ezra, who always asks him for permission to redo the school's website, but he always refuses.

Sometime before the series, Mr McGillick ended up leaving his mug in the drawer along with the other mugs of the other teachers, and Mrs Parides ended up taking it for herself, and the same insisted that she return it. Ezra, who witnessed what happened, goes to Mr McGillick and asks why he never leaves the mug in the teachers' drawer, where Mr McGillick explains why it is special, reminiscent of his moments as a teacher, however, his mug had the word "Principal", where he explained that the Best Teacher mug had run out.
